Longtime Miami Herald sports columnist Edwin Pope dies at 88

Edwin Pope, an award-winning sports columnist who covered the first 47 Super Bowls and spent more than 50 years with the Miami Herald, has died at 88. Pope, who had battled cancer, died Thursday in Okeechobee, Florida, where he lived in retirement, according to the Miami Herald's managing editor Rick Hirsch. Pope went into the newspaper business at age 11, was a sports editor at 15 and joined the Herald in 1956.
SPHL game postponed following Columbus Cottonmouths bus crash

Friday’s Southern Professional Hockey League game between the Peoria Rivermen and Columbus Cottonmouths has been postponed in the wake of Thursday’s bus accident involving the Cottonmouths. The Cottonmouths’ bus rolled over on Interstate 74 as they were en route to Illinois for a two-game set against the Rivermen. There were 24 people on the bus, including players, coaches and staff, and all of them needed to be hospitalized on Thursday, with two who were trapped in the bus needing first responders to cut a hole in the roof to get them out.
Ravens lose leading tackler Zach Orr to surprising retirement after just three seasons

Baltimore Ravens linebacker Zach Orr missed the team’s Week 17 game with what the team said was a neck injury. The Ravens were already eliminated from a playoff spot. The Baltimore media didn’t make a big deal out of it.
